5 easy ways to figure out where your relationship stands.

So you’ve been on a series of 6 dates with one girl spanning a few weeks. She gets your twisted, and let’s admit it, super awkward sense of humor. Your physical chemistry is off the charts. Most importantly she accepts your irrational love of boy bands.

At this point, it’s clear that she’s not just another potential smash-and-dash victim and there might be a relationship in the works. Far be it from me to capitalize on stereotypes… but women aren’t fans of uncertainty in terms of how they stand with guys they really like.

But guess what? Guys aren’t either! If we’re really into someone, sometimes we just want to lock them down.

So when you’re at that point of deciding if you want to be exclusive, here are the 5 easiest ways to kickstart that often times awkward and fumbly conversation. Remember that you should probably have a good read on your gal before reaching this point, and you should probably be at least 60% sure that you guys are on the same page about where you stand.

  1. Introduce her to a friend as your “girlfriend” and ask her about it later. Easy, natural, and organic.
  2. Invite her to a friend gathering and ask if you should introduce her as your girlfriend. They’re all going to gossip. Make it about getting ahead of your friends nosing around. This places the blame and redirects the attention from you wanting to know… even though it’s probably pretty transparent.
  3. Make her a cheesy “Will you be my girlfriend?” bracelet a la junior high. Really sell it and she’ll find it both hilarious and charming while getting the point across.
  4. Tackle it head on. “Hey, we’ve never really talk about this, but it’s been x weeks and y dates – where do you see this going? I really like you and want to make this exclusive and official.” Present your feelings on the matter and focus on what you want.
  5. Change your relationship status on Facebook and see if she accepts. Just kidding.
